How does Aboutread work?

A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns its back on you and remains a friend. Where to find a good book? The first thing we would think about is library.

Libraries have played an important role in our lives since 18th century. More than 10,000 public libraries in United States and Canada have been built, plus thousands of libraries in the Universities, colleges  and schools. It is a great resource to find some great books. However, the task to find good books is getting more and more difficult, even with the help of the online book catalogue, which is quite popular nowadays.

In some libraries, millions of items are available. For example, in fiscal year 2010, Library of Congress in Unites States recorded a total of 147,093,357 items in the collections, including more than 22 million cataloged books. And the number is still growing at an amazing speed. In 2010, 328.259 new titles and editions were published in United States only. How can we find the right book to read from so many books when we stand in the book aisles of a library, or browse the online book catalogue of our local public library?

The main goal of Aboutread  is to help library visitors to discover good books based on the massive user reviews available from other sources like Amazon. When you visit Aboutread , the website will detect the your city and check whether there is a registered public library for your city in the system. If yes, you can easily check whether a book is available from your local public library by clicking a link under the book of your interest.

The 'automatic' library catalog search service is provided by Link2Library Inc. Currently, more than 10,000 libraries have been configured, which covers about 95% population in United States and Canada. However, if you find that your local library is not registered, please contact Link2Library.
